Parking has got so bad in parts of Exeter ambulances are struggling to gain access to emergencies, it has been revealed.
The situation is is so bad on the junction of Alphington Road with Hatherleigh Road that an ambulance recently struggled to get through.
Local councillor Roy Hill was in Hatherleigh Road at the time and spoke out about bad parking.
He said: "Several residents have complained to me about the parking which seems to be people who work on Marsh Barton.
"While I was there an ambulance arrived and had to stop and then slowly negotiate its way through.
"I have contacted highways officers about this and am arranging a site meeting with them so that we can look at ways of stopping this bad parking. It is unacceptable if emergency vehicles can't get through."
A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: "The Trust would ask all motorists to please park responsibly.
"All our crews want to reach patients as quickly as possible but inappropriately parked vehicles can sometimes add vital seconds when responding to emergencies."
