A suspected drink driver was arrested after police found a man asleep in a ditch near Exeter.
Police were called just after 10pm on Saturday 1st Nov after reports a car, a red Toyota Avensis, collided with a fence and another vehicle in the village of Talaton near Exeter.
Emergency services said the car initially made off and was found a short time later unattended by the Talaton Inn.
A police dog unit attended the area and police dog Jack tracked a scent and found a man in a ditch.
A 53 year-old man was arrested for refusing a breath test and taken into police custody.
Patrick Johnson, age 53, from Rockbeare was charged with failing to stop after a collision, failing to provide a breath test and failing to report a collision.
He was bailed to appear at Exeter Magistrates Court on 18th November 2014.
