LIAM Sercombe could miss the next couple of months of Exeter City's League Two campaign after breaking his ankle in the 2-2 draw against Barnet.
The 22-year-old was substituted 54 minutes into the match on Saturday and before he was taken to hospital for an X-Ray, where the fracture was confirmed.
Sercombe has been almost an ever present in the City line-up this season, starting 21 games.
He missed four matches in late September and early October when he was also suffering from an ankle problem, which needed an injection, but Tisdale confirmed this current injury is a much more serious.
"I'm not quite sure on a timescale, but he is certainly going to be out for some considerable time," said Tisdale.
"He will be in a cast for a couple of weeks at least."
The news will be a massive blow to Tisdale as the midfielder was beginning to rediscover the form that saw him catch the eye with some impressive displays towards the end of last season in League One.
The Exeter-born player had scored in a recent derby against Plymouth Argyle and, until the point he got injured, he was putting in an energetic and bustling performance against Barnet.
"He is a regular participant in the side and he has benefited from a run of games this year," said Tisdale. "Liam always comes in and gives great energy to his play.
"He is a very versatile player as well so obviously I'm disappointed to have lost him, but I'm sure he is more disappointed to be out."
Tisdale did welcome back Tommy Doherty into the squad this week after a month out with a hamstring injury. But with a small squad, and little hope of brining in any loan players, Tisdale says he could do with all his players being fit.
"Ideally I would like to have all my squad available," he said. "I would like to have Liam (Sercombe) and Tommy (Doherty) in the same side. He (Liam) will be a big loss.
"With the small squad that I have got I would like to have all my players fit and available, but it is not to be."
