Ottery St Mary's ethical restaurant, the Rusty Pig, is holding a special themed event during Tar Barrels on November 5 to raise funds for the town's Carnival Committee.

£5 from every booking will go directly to the committee to help ensure that the town's annual carnival continues.

Rusty Pig chef, Robin Rea explained: "I thought this would be a great way for people to have an even more entertaining experience of the Tar Barrels, whilst at the same time raising a good sum for the carnival.

"Ticket holders will be able to dip in and out of the restaurant in Yonder Street throughout the evening and help themselves to food. I'll be preparing some unusual tastes based around the theme of Guy Fawkes and Gunpowder."

Robin has been busy devising dishes for the extravaganza, including; Jumping Jack Jalapeños, Rocket of Roasted Pig, Roman Candle Chorizo and Gunpowder Tea.

As well as the restaurant event, Robin's team will be selling his popular free-range sausages to the public from a van in Hind Street, and all profits will also go to the Carnival Committee.

Tickets cost £25 to include all food, and there is a paying bar open until 1a.m. To book call 01404 815580.
