A 77-year-old-woman who was killed when she was bit by a train in-between Topsham and Exton has been named by police as former Topsham primary school teacher Bettine Rogers.
Bettine Rogers, a former governor at Topsham Primary School, was killed during the incident on Wednesday night.
Officers from BTP and Devon & Cornwall Police were called to the railway line at Holman Way, Topsham, on Wednesday, 1 October after a report that a person had been struck by a train.
On arrival crews confirmed the body of a woman was located. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said:
"We can confirm the woman who died after being struck by a train near Holman Way, Topsham, on Wednesday, 1 October, was Bettine Rogers, aged 77, of Higher Shapter Close, Topsham.
"Officers discovered her body after being called to the location shortly before 9pm on Wednesday, 1 October.
"There are no suspicious circumstances and a file is being prepared for the Coroner."
