A hairdresser has been jailed after he was caught bringing cocaine to Devon on two different delivery trips. Samir Mohammed was stopped for the first time because he was going at more than 100 mph in a BMW on the M5 at Cullompton and found with £5,000 worth of drugs in his car. He was bailed but was stopped again in a different car just two months later with a £6,700 consignment of almost pure cocaine, Exeter Crown Court was told. Mohammed had owned a hairdressing business in Plymouth but got into debt because of his own drug use and agreed to act as a courier to pay off his dealers. He was bullied into the second trip to atone for the loss of the drugs which were seized by police in the first stop. Mohammed, aged 41, of Molesworth Road, Plymouth, admitted two offences of possessing cocaine with intent to supply, and one of possessing cannabis with intent to supply. He was jailed for four and a half years by Judge Graham Cottle, who also ordered the seizure of the £7,500 Nissan which Mohammed was driving on the second drugs run. The Judge told him:"This is a familiar story. You were involved in the taking of drugs and ran into debt and you then agreed to act as a courier to bring drugs to the West Country to discharge all or part of that debt. "You were caught on the M5 and somewhat surprisingly released on bail but your problem had not gone away. You not only had the drug debt but you had also been relieved of a significant quantity of drugs during your first arrest. "As a result of threats being issued to you and your family you agreed to another drug run and were caught again, still on the M5 and driving a different car. "This time the cocaine had a very high percentage of purity but you probably did not appreciate that as you were simply a courier." Mr Ian Graham, prosecuting, said Mohammed was stopped in August and October last year and drugs with a potential street value of £12,800 seized. On the first trip police found 115 grams of cocaine hidden behind a panel and 56.4 grams of skunk cannabis on a metal tray. On the second they found 83.9 grams but it was more valuable than the first consignment because it was 91 per cent pure. Mr Graham said:"He was stopped by police on the M5 at Cullompton because he was travelling at over 100 mph. He was the driver and there were two others in the car. He said the cannabis was for their own use and denied any knowledge of the cocaine. "He later accepted he was a drug addict who had incurred debts and that was why he had the drugs in the car." He said Mohammed told police he sold the BMW which was stopped on the first run and bought the Nissan with the proceeds of selling that and his hairdressing business. Miss Felicity Paine, defending, said Mohammed has been drug free since his arrest almost a year ago and had been drawn into carrying the cocaine through his own addiction. She said:"He could not afford to pay for the drugs and agreed to be a courier to get drugs for his addiction and because it went wrong he felt compelled to do it again."
