An inmate who has been behind bars for nine years attacked and seriously injured a prison officer, a court heard.
Tony Price, aged 29, who is serving an indeterminate sentence, assaulted the man at Dartmoor Prison.
Welshman Price, now in prison in Bridgend, Mid-Glamorgan, admitted assaulting Mark Southam causing actual bodily harm on January 7.
Sarah Vince, for Price, said no probation nor psychiatric report was needed.
Judge Paul Darlow adjourned sentence until October 24 due to lack of court time.
Price is serving an indeterminate sentence and will only be released when he is deemed as no longer a danger to the public.
