A 44-year-old man has today admitted stabbing a woman on a disused Devon railway.
Gary Hopes, 44, of Authers Heights, Tiverton, pleaded guilty to a charge of wounding at Exeter Crown Court.
A manhunt for Hopes began following the incident which occurred on the old railway line in Tiverton in the early evening of Friday, August 29.
Police said a 27-year-old female had been stabbed by a man who was known to her.
Hopes was arrested at a hotel in London and taken to the South West for questioning before being charged.
A police helicopter and a dog unit were originally called in to search the immediate area around the railway walk and Moorhayes following the incident.
The woman sustained a number of injuries in the attack and was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
Some days later police said she had returned home and was expected to make a full recovery.
He will be sentenced on November 28.
