Local dignitaries, sporting heroes and businesses joined the celebrations as a firm of insurance brokers expanded into Exeter. A ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted by the Lord Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Percy Prowse, took place at Glen House on Marsh Barton to officially open the Exeter branch of Jelf Insurance Brokers. In its 25th anniversary year, Jelf marked the event by bringing together clients, professional connections and employees. With the theme of a 'Celebration of Devon', the opening saw local businesses and clients supply all the essential elements for the night, from food and drinks to sound and entertainment. Local businessman Chris Jelf, founder and deputy chairman of Jelf, addressed the gathering to thank employees and guests for their continued support. Chris highlighted the exciting opportunity that the business sees within Exeter and the surrounding area. Jelf also welcomed both Exeter Chiefs and Somerset County Cricket Club, who both donated signed shirts for the office to auction off for charity over the coming months. Lee Davey, regional managing director for the broker, said: "It's fantastic to be able to welcome so many members of the community to the official opening of our Exeter office. "The move to this historic city is part of our ambitious growth plans to strengthen our position as one of the leading insurance brokers in the South West. "We are committed to providing a tailored, personal service to all our clients and this new office provides the team with a great base from which to do this." Jelf advises businesses and individuals on matters relating to insurance, employee benefits, health insurance and financial planning. Formed in 1989 by Chris Jelf, the group has 33 offices in 31 locations across England, Wales and Scotland, employing almost 1,100 members of staff.
