Alcoa Power and Propulsion in Exeter has received a prestigious award for its apprenticeship training.
The company, a leading producer of advanced jet engine and other industrial parts, picked up the National Apprentice Award for the South West region in the category of BAE Systems Large Employer of the year.
Announced at the South West Apprenticeship Awards ceremony in Taunton, the National Apprenticeship Service selected the Alcoa Exeter site for its apprentices' contributions to the site's businesses success, the breadth of career development and training opportunities offered, and investments made to promote the apprenticeship scheme in the broader community.
The Alcoa Exeter team will now have the opportunity to compete in the national finals with an awards ceremony at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham on November 13.

"Investing in apprentices enables our business to attract, train and develop individuals who will contribute to and lead Alcoa in the future. The apprentices bring enormous energy, zest for learning, and vigour for new challenges."
The National Apprentice Awards for the South West region judging panel included experts and professionals from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. This is the first year Alcoa has entered the competition.
The National Apprenticeship Awards, now in their eleventh year, celebrate the achievements of the country's most outstanding apprentices and apprenticeship employers. In 2013, 14,000 entrants were received for the awards.
