LOCAL councillor Adrian Fullam has received confirmation from First Great Western that the platform is going to be made higher at St Thomas station.
Cllr Fullam said: "The gap to the platform has been difficult for many passengers for over a century, so this is great news for people with buggies, wheelchairs, bikes and those who are a bit unsteady.
"This further investment by First Great Western is a real boost to our valued train link in St Thomas."
Passenger usage at St Thomas station has increased fourfold over the last 10 years, from 45,681 in 2002/2003 to 196,198 in 2012/2013.
