Martyn Rogers has told his Tiverton Town players to switch-on when defending set-pieces for tonight's game with Birdgwater Town. Rogers has seen his side concede three goals from deadball situation in as many game this season. He warned his players before the campaign started that they would need to be strong from corners and free-kick, but he says too many of his players a losing concentration at vital moments. "It was another set-piece which cost us on Saturday," said Rogers. "That is three goals we have let in this season now from set-pieces, which is disappointing. "I think you can do all the training, in terms of set-pieces, that you like, but matchday you just need to switch on. "We haven't done that and that is why we have let goals in from set-pieces, so we have got to switch on and concentrate more. "People are having a slip here or a slip there and the opposition are scoring. "It is something we talked about at the start of the season, but at this moment in time it is something we still need to address." Bridgwater have plenty of height and strength in their team so are likely to test Tivvy from set-pieces again. However, Rogers says it is not just Bridgwater or Southern League sides who look to utilise set-plays to their advantage. He says if a team can't switch on and mark the players they need to at corners and free-kicks, they will get punished at any level. "Bridgwater will be a danger from set plays for sure, but at the moment all sides are dangerous for us from set-pieces," said Rogers. "There are a lot of big sides in this league that like to use set-pieces to their advantage, but I think in all leagues set-pieces are crucial and you need to be sharp. "We even managed to score from a set-piece on Saturday, which just goes to show you how much you need to concentrate on that aspect of the game." The match with Bridgwater is given a little extra spice as Rogers will be pitted against his son-in-law Nathan Rudge, who is assistant manager at Fairfax Park and a former Tivvy stalwart. "It will be interesting to see where my daughter's colours are on the day – if she is supporting her husband or her dad," said Rogers, who also added that he was reasonably pleased with his side's start to the campaign. "I think what we have done in our first three games is we have competed. The three games were all matches we could have won and we could have lost. "However, we more than held our own and I think we were the better footballing side in all three of the matches."
