Firefighters were called to a fire at a house in Sidmouth on Saturday afternoon.
At around 4.30pm they attended a house in Manstone Mead, Sidmouth, after receiving a call to alarms activating in the property.
Fire crews gained entry to the house and found a pan left unattended on a cooker hob.
Fire crews removed the pan to open air and ventilated the property using a positive pressure ventilation fan.
A spokesman said: "This was a small fire involving an unattended pan on a cooker hob. There was moderate fire damage to the pan. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental."
