A large police presence will greet Exeter city fans travelling to Plymouth today for the new season's first clash with arch rivals Plymouth Argyle.
Trouble inside and outside the ground has marred the fixture at Home Park in previous years, although there have been relatively few arrests in recent matches between the two sides.
The game in Plymouth kicks off at 3pm.
Police warned of heavy traffic in the area prior to kick off and encouraged fans to use public transport.
A police spokesman said: "We are expecting a considerable number of visitors and extra traffic due to the match between Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City on Saturday, 15 August 2014.
"While limited parking is available, where possible we would recommend people use public transport.
"A number of buses go from the bus stops at Royal Parade in Plymouth city centre up to the Plymouth Argyle ground and nearby Life Centre, including PR1, PR 2 and many others. Buses also go from opposite the Rail Station."
