A nervous wait is finally over for hundreds of teenagers who collected their A-Levels results this morning, with students in Exeter and Exmouth queuing bright and early this morning in anticipation.
Nationally, the percentage of students obtaining top grades is slightly down on last year, with the national pass rate remaining steady.
But Exeter College is one establishment bucking this trend, boasting a higher percentage of top grades and elevated pass rate on last year.
Exmouth Community College is also celebrating with a higher pass rate than last year.
A record number of students countrywide have obtained a place at their first choice university, a trend which is reflected both in Exeter and Exmouth.
Exeter College is boasting a 99.5 per cent pass rate, with over half of students achieving A* – B grades.
And at Exmouth Community College, there was a 99 per cent pass rate, with 71 per cent of students achieving A* – C grades and 42 per cent achieving A* – B grades.
Exmouth Community College student Joe Willey, 18, achieved three A*s in maths, further maths and physics and is going on to study mechanical engineering at Bath University.
"I'm so pleased, and surprised, just over the moon," he said.
