A teenaged knifeman has been jailed for threatening to kill his girlfriend and cut off her head.
Chad Pearson smashed his way into partner Jasmine Farmer's home in Exmouth and threatened her with a five inch kitchen knife he took from her kitchen.
She took refuge upstairs and called the police who found Pearson still shouting threats in the garden of her home and drew tasers before disarming him.
Pearson, aged 19, of Cheshire Road, Exmouth, admitted affray and was jailed for a total of ten months in a Young Offenders' Institution by Judge Elizabeth Rylands at Exeter Crown Court.
She told him:"You behaved in a very troubling and serious way and made threats to kill and to chop your girlfriend's head off. You were holding a knife.
"This was a very serious offence indeed. It was late in the evening and of a domestic nature, committed on the private premises of his girlfriend where other neighbours could hear what was going on."
Mr Gordon Richings, prosecuting, said police were called to Miss Farmer's home at Midway, Exmouth, twice on the evening of July 7 and on the second occasion found him armed with a knife.
Mr Richings said:"The defendant had returned to the address and broken down the door and started screaming threats that he was going to kill her and chop her head off.
"She made a 999 call to the police who arrived to see him holding a kitchen knife with a five inch blade. When officers arrived a number of people from nearby houses them beckoned to them."
Police found Pearson with the knife in Miss Farmer's garden and drew tasers before he was persuaded to throw away the weapon and lie on the ground, where he continued screaming and shouting threats.
He was covered in blood but his injuries were self inflicted and he was taken for a check up at hospital before being taken to the cells.
Miss Emily Cook, defending, said Pearson was under the influence of illegal valium at the time and had not carried out his threats or harmed Miss Farmer.
She said Pearson has problems with controlling his emotions in relationships because of a troubled childhood in care but wants to work on his problems of anger management while in custody.
