The Exeter Science Park Centre has reached a significant stage in its construction with the completion of the roof structure. To mark the occasion a 'topping out' ceremony was held on Wednesday. Exeter Science Park stakeholders joined the site team on the roof to tighten the final bolt in one of the stud columns which will support the plant room steel works. Kym Dyer, facilities manager for the Science Park Centre, said: "Today marks seven months until the doors of the Science Park Centre open, it is great to be here today and get a feel of the space and environment that companies will be able to benefit from. There is a real excitement around the Science Park development and the potential it has for future growth within the region." Brian Rice, area manager for Kier Western & Wales, added: "Work is going really well and it's great to be able to celebrate the topping out with so many people. The Science Park is an important scheme for Exeter and the West Country and we are delighted to be delivering the construction phase." The Science Park Centre is being backed by funds from the Heart of the South West LEP's Growing Places Fund and BIS's Regional Growth Fund together with equity from the company's shareholders (Devon County Council, East Devon District Council, Exeter City Council and the University of Exeter).
