EXETER could soon have a new pub – built from scratch.
Marston's, the independent brewer and pub retailing business, has applied for planning permission for a pub and restaurant on Pinhoe Road, near its junction with Exhibition Way.
The intention is to create a new access road to the pub/restaurant from Pinhoe Road and this would also serve future development on the overall site. There is a proposal for a development of retirement homes adjacent to the pub.
If granted planning permission by the city council the restaurant would have 180 covers and would have car parking for 58 cars, which includes three disabled spaces. There would also be 12 cycle spaces.
Plans show that it would be surrounded by landscaped gardens, including a terrace and there would also be a children's play area.
The new build will also include a manager's flat and staff facilities. The building is two storey and will have bar and dining areas, a play area, kitchen, cellar and plant/equipment at ground floor level and further accommodation for staff on the first floor that is a living room, kitchen area, three bedrooms and bathroom. There is also an office, store, locker rooms and toilets. It is intended that there will be 10 full-time and 40 part-time employees.
