The case against a man accused of a series of assaults in North Devon has been adjourned in his absence to allow more time for a psychiatric assessment. Neil Blom, aged 34, was due to appear at Exeter Crown Court accused of assaults, affray and criminal damage relating to a series of incidents near Lee Bay in June. Some of the offences allegedly took place at a tea shop near Lynton, at the Lee Abbey Christian Fellowship, Martinhoe and Woody Bay. Blom, of Parracombe, North Devon, is charged with two assaults causing actual bodily harm, two assaults by beating, affray, and damaging a car. Judge Francis Gilbert, QC, adjourned his case for six weeks after being told Blom is currently being assessed at a psychiatric unit in the Midlands. Miss Emily Pitts, defending, said:"A fuller psychiatric picture should be available when the case is next listed."
