A RECORD shop in Devon has gone up for sale on eBay for £9,000. Music fans may be used to scouring the internet auction site for rare vinyl but now they are being offered the chance to acquire an entire shop's worth. The shop in Crediton only opened last year but owner Dan Ford is selling up because he wants to start another business. According to the listing the price includes: "Thousands upon thousands of new and used vinyl singles, albums and box sets, CD singles and albums." It also includes merchandise including badges, posters, mugs and t-shirts and even a dart board from The Beatles record company Apple. The shop's stock spans the decades from vinyl from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s right up to 7-inch pressing for stars of today such as Coldplay and Maximo Park. The lease on the shop itself ends October, and Dan says they will not be renewing it. The site may be available, which is "a matter which needs to be discussed with the landlord," the listing says. The listing can be viewed around the world but Dan says he is recommending a viewing for potential purchasers to show the "full scale of the business" which consists of more than 20,000 items. Since going online, the listing has been attracting around 12 views an hour but Dan has yet to see if anyone will meet his £8,999,000 estimation. This is not the first record shop to crop up on the auction site in recent months. At the end of last year, the owner of the oldest second-hand record shop in London failed to attract a buyer after placing his store for sale on eBay for £300,000. Specialising in vintage vinyl, On The Beat Records in Hanway Street, Soho, stocked over 50,000 records.
