A 'ladies man' who targets vulnerable woman he meets through dating agencies has posed as an airline pilot and a policeman. In his latest scam Timothy Giles made out he had a high flying career man flying for Quantas. But a court heard he was just a dishonest man who 'targeted vulnerable women'. And Exeter magistrates court was told that 46 year old Giles was no stranger to masquerading because in December 2013 he was convicted of posing as a police officer. And within months he was conning another victim out of cash. Giles, from Blunsdon near Swindon, Wilts, admitted seven charges of fraud and theft between July and December last year. The charges included 'dishonestly making a false representation, namely pretending to be a qualified airline pilot, intending to make a money gain for yourself'. Prosecutor Lindsey Baker said:"The allegation is that he obtained money by pretending to be an airline pilot." She said that Giles also pocketed money he had 'raised' for the Children's Hospice South West – he handed over £65 out of the £190 he had been donated from the sponsored cycle ride. And he had also helped himself to the fuel provided by his company, a toilet firm. Miss Baker said he took cash from a female victim he met through a dating agency who lives in east Devon. She said:"He is saying 'I had the money, I got it not because of being an airline pilot, I got the money and kept it." Burly Giles – who turned up in court with a blonde haired woman – was bailed before he is sentenced next month. Miss Baker told the court:"He was targeting vulnerable women while pretending to be someone that he is not. "One lady parted with money because he said he was an airline pilot and was a safe bet for the money to be repaid. "He met her through a dating agency. He misled into forming a relationship claiming to be someone he was not for his own gain." A lawyer who represented Giles at an earlier hearing said:"He is a ladies man." The magistrates said the offences passed the custody threshold and ordered an all options report. Giles, who was jovial throughout the hearing, gave his address as Durban House in Lady Lane, Blunsdon and said he could not appear in court during a time in August – because he was jetting off on holiday with his lady friend.
