Firefighters were called to reports of a fire at a house in Dawlish on Friday evening.
Two fire engines were sent to a property in the High Street just after 6.30pm.
When they arrived crews found there had been a fire in first floor flat involving the microwave.
A fire spokesman said: "The fire was out on arrival, crews inspected the property and made scene safe before leaving the scene."
