Police said they have 'made arrangements' to interview a suspect in the on-going fraud investigation surrounding the fundraising page of tragic Exeter schoolgirl Nicole Hartup.
Nicole died at the age 12 after falling from a wall at the Phoenix Youth Centre in Wonford in May.
Shortly after her death, a page was set up on the site claiming to be raising money for a plaque or bench for Nicole. The page states that a total of £820 had been raised through 42 donations, and added that all money raised would be passed straight to parents.
But the family has now said it has been advised to freeze the account on the advice of police.
Several reports of fraud in relation to the fund were received by police. A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said their investigation was at an early stage and enquires were on-going.
In response to criticism from members of the public about the speed of the investigation, the investigating officer said: "Arrangements have been made to interview the suspect at Heavitree Road Police Station."
