PLANS are in train to make the junction of Polsloe Road, Heavitree Road and Barrack Road safer.
Traffic engineers have been looking at the junction as it has been noticed that there are sometimes problems caused by traffic which wants to turn right leaving the city centre.
Local councillor Richard Westlake told Community News: "The problem arises when drivers want to turn right into barrack Road from Heavitree Road. Some do not realise that you can enter a box junction if you are turning right, just not if you are going straight ahead.
"This means that they are trying to quickly cross the whole of the junction even although the light they are waiting at has already changed.
"We actually witnessed this happening when we had the site meeting.
"The engineers are to come up with proposals to make it safer."
