A man from Exeter has pleaded guilty to hanging a dog. Paul Brown, 52, of Okehampton Road, was charged by the RSPCA of hanging the collie-type dog called Shandy on January 18th. Brown did not appear at Salisbury Magistrates' Court today, but a solicitor entered a guilty plea on his behalf. Veronica Reid, 43, of Woolpack Meadows, Trowbridge pleaded not guilty to a charge of aiding or procuring two men to cause unnecessary suffering to an animal by hanging a collie dog. Jon Allen, 26, also of Woolpack Meadows, also pleaded not guilty to hanging Shandy. Reid and Allen were given unconditional bail and will appear at Salisbury Magistrates' Court for trial on August 21. Brown will appear at Salisbury Magistrates' Court on the same day to be sentenced, after the trial of Reid and Allen.
