An historic rowing event has taken place in Exeter today with crowds flocking to watch the competition.
Hundreds of people descended on the quayside for the Exeter Regatta - believed to be the city's oldest sporting event.
The annual event saw a record number of entries this year following a boost in the sport's profile from the London 2012 Olympics.
It is organised by Exeter Rowing Club – celebrating its 150th anniversary this year – and competitors were aged from 12 to 70.
The Exeter Regatta – also one of the largest rowing events in the South West - involved some 169 races over a 400-metre course along the River Exe.
Organisers described the event as "a great day out for the family in a superb location".
This year's event included a children's pop-up arts workshop themed to the Regatta, with artists James Lake and Monica Shanta Brown.
The event was called off in 2012, due to prolonged rain causing the river level to be too high.
