A SALTASH man has appeared in court accused of killing a highways worker in a crash on the North Devon Link Road.
Anthony Tompkins did not enter a plea during the short preliminary hearing in which a provisional trial date was set for January of next year.
Tompkins, aged 44, of Trehurst Farm, is charged with causing the death of Steven Tolley in January of this year.
Mr Tolley, aged 48, was working on the highway when he died in a crash on the A361 at Gornley Cross.
At Exeter Crown Court Judge Francis Gilbert, QC, released Tompkins on unconditional bail and set a timetable for the exchange of expert technical reports which are being prepared by the prosecution and defence.
