Around a dozen firefighters were called to tackle a fire at Tiverton Bowling Club this afternoon which caused extensive damage to its bar area.
After arriving at the scene on Wellbrook Street at around 2.50pm, the crew from Tiverton requested a further appliance which came from Bampton.
The fire involved a dishwasher in the club's pavilion, which was completely destroyed.
The bar was 20 per cent damaged by fire and there was 30 per cent smoke damage to the bar area.
To tackle the blaze crews used four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one covering jet, one safety jet and a thermal imaging camera.
