Brazil president Dilma Rousseff has offered her support to the families of those killed and injured by the collapse of an overpass being built for the World Cup.
The incident happened on Thursday around 2.5miles from the Estadio Mineirao, which is hosting the first semi-final of the World Cup next week, and reportedly killed two people.
Brazilian media quoted a Fire Department spokesman who said at least another 19 had been taken to hospital with injuries.
The overpass was being built as part of delayed infrastructure improvements for the tournament in the Sao Joao Batista district of the city.
Just three days before the World Cup began on June 12, another accident in Sao Paulo killed one worker and injured two when an unfinished monorail collapsed.
This latest accident has cast a shadow over Brazil's World Cup quarter-final against Colombia in Fortaleza on Friday, and Rousseff expressed her shock at the incident on Twitter.
She wrote: "It is with sadness that we learn of the collapse of the viaduct in Belo Horizonte.
"In this moment of pain, we lend our support to the families of the victims.
"The government will help Belo Horizonte and the authorities with whatever it needs."
