Algeria forward Islam Slimani says his country have achieved their World Cup target by progressing from the group stages, but that doesn't mean the North Africans are ready to take it easy. A last-16 match-up with Germany will give The Desert Warriors the chance to revisit a 32-year grudge held against their European opponents – in 1982 West Germany eliminated Algeria from the group stages with a controversial 1-0 win over Austria. But having beaten 2002 World Cup semi-finalists South Korea 4-2 in Brazil, the Algerians secured their place in the last-16 with a 1-1 draw against Russia, with Slimani scoring the equaliser. "We came to Brazil aiming to get through the group phase," Slimani said. "Now that we've done it we can be proud, but we shouldn't be happy to stop here. "You always want more and we're hoping to keep this dream going. I don't want anybody to wake me up yet. "We're clearly the underdogs [against Germany] but we're confident we can put in a great performance. We'll have to be more focused than ever before and play our very best football." Germany topped Group G with an unbeaten record thanks to four goals from Bayern Munich's Thomas Muller. And while on paper the Germans will be strong favourites to move on to the quarter-finals, boss Joachim Low is not underestimating the threat posed by the talented African side. "We have seen that Algeria don't only have one important player," Low said. "Some of them play in Spain, some in France, some played in the French national youth teams - they are all skilled. "You don't get the feeling that there is one player who stands out. "The team is a unit. Everybody shows extra effort, the striker comes back to defend or a defender gives everything on the counterattack. The team is very well balanced."
