Seven fire engines were called to tackle a blaze in a commercial property in Pinhoe Trading Estate, Exeter yesterday evening.
Fire crews forced their way into the building at 6pm after engines were sent to reports of an alarm sounding and smoke seen coming from a vent at a trading unit.
On arrival, crews found the fire in the partition wall and got to work using two breathing apparatus sets.
On arrival of the second appliance breathing apparatus was increased to four and a positive pressure ventilation fan was in use.
Forced entry was made to an adjoining unit to check for fire spread.
Police were also requested to attend.
The building consisting of one floor measuring approximately 40m by 20m used as an engineer's storage was found to have a fire in the partition wall.
Crews used three hose reel jets and a safety jet as well as two thermal imaging cameras and a short extension ladder.
The Urban Search and Rescue Team were requested to attend to provide additional equipment such as heavy rescue saws to cut away the partition wall and ensure the structure was safe.
Crews extinguished the fire by 11pm.
