A Devon council has been left red faced today after it was realised that new coach parking bays in Tiverton were painted on incorrectly.
The spots, in Tiverton's William Street car park, have been left without a gap between them, meaning that if two coaches were to park next to each other, passengers would not be able to alight.
The lack of room means that a coach would not be able to reverse into either of the spaces.
The bays, designed to meet a need from the tourism sector, are due to be repainted before coach firms are invited to stop in Tiverton.
A Mid Devon District Council insider told The Tiverton Gazette: "It is a bit embarrassing that coach companies weren't asked to comment on the plans."
