Filming for the second series of popular television show Broadchurch will continue in Exeter through the summer after taking place in the city today.
Actor David Tennant was spotted at the University of Exeter this morning during what is understood to be three months of recording on the Streatham Campus.
The former Dr Who star and Birds of a Feather actress Pauline Quirk were seen on the site alongside other cast and members of the ITV crime drama.
The university's centrepiece Forum building was renamed 'Wessex Police headquarters', and actors were seen in character preparing for scenes.
Security was heightened on the campus near the city centre with a number of uniformed officers patrolling in and around the £48 million building.
Signs were displayed on the site, saying 'Caution: Filming in Progress' alongside a message apologising for any inconvenience caused.
Students, staff and members of the public were allowed to see the filming inside the building, but were prohibited from taking pictures or video.
In a note handed-out to people in the vicinity of the filming, ITV said: "We are happy for you to watch what we're doing but would be very grateful if you could avoid taking photos of us with your phone or camera."
People discussed the recording on social network Twitter, with several reporting seeing members of the cast at the university.
Professor Francesca Stavrakopoulou wrote: "They're filming the new series of Broadchurch on campus right now!!! So excited."
Rachel Trimble wrote: "I walked through the Forum and the lady wouldn't tell me what it was! I didn't see David Tennant - but lots of other cast."
Another user, named Katie, wrote: "Just had a text to say #DavidTennant *might* be filming on campus again next Mon or Tues. Both days I'm on campus! #Broadchurch".
Shooting began last month for the second series of the BAFTA award-winning programme also starring Olivia Colman, Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan and David Bradley.
The main filming was taking place in Clevedon, North Somerset, and is expected to hit screens later this year.
More than half a dozen crew trucks, tents covering sound, film and recording equipment, crew and actors arrived to start filming in what appeared to be a graveyard.
Details of what will happen are being kept a closely guarded secret, with all the cast and crew being made to sign a non-disclosure agreement by producers.
