Armed police were sent to a property at St Mary's Court, Newton Abbot, and a man was arrested following 'threats to kill' on Friday evening.
Police were called to the address at 7pm officers stopped walkers from going near to the building in question.
Local police worked with eight fire arm officers, one dog handler and three negotiators.
Teignbridge Supt Glen Mayhew said:' following a domestic incident a 60 year old local man was arrested.
'There were no injuries and after negotiations a man was arrested and will be interviewed on December 14.'
