Exeter City's senior commercial manager Mark Jenkins is set for an appearance on Sky Sports in the coming months after winning the European Father & Son Golf Championships in Almeria, Spain. The event, which is sponsored by Sky, has a television camera on every hole and welcomes some of the best father and son golf partnerships from across Europe. Jenkins and his son Connor were one of 46 teams at the event and won the nett competition with stableford point scores of 43, 40 and 41. Mark, who plays off a handicap of five, and his son were tied for the lead going into the final day and went out as the third from last group – playing with a father and son partnership from Oxfordshire who had the same score as them. "We thought, as they probably did, let's just beat them and see what happens," admitted Mark. "They (the Oxfordshire pairing) birdied the first and then we blobbed the second so we were three points behind them in two holes, so it wasn't the best of starts. "However, we managed to grab it back. We had 19 points on the front nine and they had 20, then we went ahead of them. "Then Connor birdied the 15th, which gave us three for four points. They birdied 16 and 17 and we were stood on the 18th with the same score. "As it transpired I bogeyed it, but Connor was on the green for two. "Their father hit short of the green and chipped on to within 10ft and missed. "Connor then putted from 25 feet away to take his four. "So we ended up beating them by a point. "We then had to wait about half an hour as the other scores came into to see if we had won it. It was quite nerve-wracking, because it was bad enough with Sky cameras on every hole and set up as it was. "And then the tournament director came over and shook our hands and said I'm delighted to let you know you have won the nett competition. "It is unbelievable, I can't really put it into words. To do that, playing with your son over in Spain and to win something like that is great. I'd love to relive it again."
