EXETER Tidy Group believes it has come up with the answer to gum and cigarette ends littering the pavements.
Cllr Percy Prowse, who chairs the group, told the Echo: "We are able to source small plastic pouches which slip into pockets and which have been created for people to put their used gum and cigarette butts into.
"We are going to ask each of the city councillors for £50 from their community budgets so that we can raise £900 to buy a batch of these pouches.
"It is really difficult for our street cleaners having to deal with gum and cigarette ends as they are so difficult to pick up."
