A YOUNG woman whose life was saved after receiving a second double lung transplant has thanked her donor for giving her a future.
Kirstie Tancock had been handed a virtual death sentence after being told she was too ill to receive a transplant and had just weeks to live.
But two days later, the 23-year-old, from Honiton, defied the odds again and just hours after being re-listed a match was found. She has already been up from her hospital bed and is breathing by herself. She said: "I am the luckiest girl alive."
