FRIENDS and family have paid tribute to Rachel Hawkins, the wife of a Royal Marine, found dead at the foot of cliffs in Lympstone.

Floral tributes at Cliff Field, a beauty spot overlooking the Exe Estuary, describe the 34-year-old as "caring" and "beautiful".

Her body was found at about 7.50pm on Monday, July 29, on rocks near Darling's Rock.

An inquest into Rachel's death was opened on August 1.

Her husband said: "I am very grateful for all the support and messages of sympathy from family, friends and workmates.

"This is a particularly painful and sad time for my family and myself as we come to terms with our loss."

On behalf of the Lympstone Military Wives Choir, Paula Mundy, said: "We would like to pass on our condolences to Rachel's family and friends.

"It is a tragic loss to her family and those who knew her."
