A former Exonian boy could soon be swapping the cobbled paths of Exeter for the mean streets of Gotham. Matthew Goode, who was born in Exeter, is among the favourites for the role of Batman in the next Superman movie, alongside stars such as Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin. A mix of established and up and coming actors are being eyed by Warner Bros to go up against Clark Kent in "Man of Steel 2″, recently unveiled at Comic Con to be Batman vs Superman themed. Goode, who is currently filming The Imitation Game, has not commented on the possibility of playing Bruce Wayne. But the former Exeter School pupil, 35, fought off all-comers to land the role of Adrian 'Ozymandias' Veidt in Watchmen and is now being considered for another super hero role. Director Zack Snyder is planning to shoot Man of Steel 2 in early 2014 for a summer 2015 release in cinemas. Goode, who grew up in Clyst St. Mary, has starred in blockbusters such as Chasing Liberty, Match Point and most recently the psychological thriller 'Stoker'. His family still live near Exeter.
