Hundreds of musicians have joined together for a summer concert extravaganza at Exeter University. Big Noise Chorus (BNC) and Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra (DYJO) came together on Friday for the performance of rock, pop, soul and jazz music in the university's Great Hall. Around 300 singers were joined by the 35-piece big band comprising of musicians from across Devon. Choir director Colin Rea said: "This was our biggest and most exciting concert to date. "With so many performers coming together from across four choirs and performing alongside the DYJO, it was an iconic night of soulful singing and foot-stomping tunes. The sound was phenomenal. Its network of choirs across Devon share a total of almost 400 members – in Exeter, Torquay and Plymouth. "We believe everyone can sing. They just need to be taught how," Mr Rea added. Proceeds from the concert went towards Exeter Lions – supporting Exeter Leukemia Fund and the WESC foundation, the specialist Centre for visual impairment. The choir has raised £30,000 for charity from its various events over the past four years. The DYJO has previously performed for MPs at the House of Commons, as well as playing with well-known jazz stars, including Dave O'Higgins, Gordon Campbell, Bruce Adams and John Etheridge.Watch videos from the performance below:
