A MUM has been showing off her trimmer figure in the new edition of a magazine read by a million-strong army of dieters.
Stephanie Wilks, née Hawkins, is the cover star of the June edition of WeightWatchers magazine, in which she recounts her experience of joining a branch of the slimming group in London after the birth of her second daughter.
Stephanie, 39, from Tiverton, worked in publishing before becoming a full-time mum but the recent photo shoot was her first job since taking her career break.
She said: "The shoot itself was brilliant and really exciting.
"I have been to quite a few before because I used to work for national newspapers and magazines and I could tell from the number of people on the shoot that day that this was going to be a decent-sized feature. But it was still a bit of a surprise when they called to say I had made the front cover."
The magazine often features celebrities on its front covers, and February's cover star was actress Patsy Kensit.
But Stephanie's story of the struggles of an everyday mum to lose weight ensured her very own brush with fame.
Stephanie, who has daughters, Mia, five, and Darcey, two, said her appearance on a magazine cover was a source of great excitement for her children.
She said: "Every time they go past a newsagents they get excited and want to see if they can find a copy of the magazine."
