SOME of the region's top beaches have been recognised in a prestigious international award scheme.
The announcement is set to give the region a boost ahead of this weekends's second spring bank holiday.
Thousands of visitors are expected to descend on the region and major routes into Devon are expected to be busy.
The new report reveals Dawlish Warren achieving the prestigious Blue Flag award for the 15th-year running.
And Teignmouth Town Beach, Coryton Cove at Dawlish as well as Ness Cove at Shaldon, have all won high-profile Seaside Awards, which were formerly known as Quality Coast Awards.
The internationally-renowned Blue Flag is presented to those beaches that pass the very strictest of criteria.
They are judged for environmental management, visitor facilities, cleanliness and clean bathing waters, meaning that residents and visitors to the resort can expect a top quality experience.
The Blue Flag Programme is administered in England by Keep Britain Tidy.
