THE five busiest speed cameras in Exeter and East Devon snapped nearly 6,000 drivers across 2011 and 2012.
New figures have revealed the cameras that caught the most speeders in Devon, with five out of the 10 found in Exeter and Exmouth.
Data released to the Echo under the Freedom of Information Act show that speed cameras in Totnes and Exmouth were among those that caught law-breaking motorists most often in Devon.
In total, the top 10 cameras across Devon caught 14,709 speeders in the two-year period.
The camera topping the list in Exeter, catching 1,221 drivers, was on the B3181 at Westclyst.
The second busiest camera in the city was on the A377 Cowley Bridge Road, Exeter.
The third busiest camera was on Rydon Lane, Exeter.
If each activation averaged a fine of £60, the total earned from the top 10 speed cameras would equal more than £880,000.
However, the police stressed that each activation does not represent a fine.
