Spring is on its way for the UK according to forecasters, but Exeter will have to endure another week of heavy rain before the arrival.
Forecasters have said they are "increasing confidence" that next week temperatures may reach normal levels for this time of year.
But rain has been predicted for the next few days, with the heaviest likely to fall on Tuesday evening (see map above).
Temperatures will stay below 10C in much of the South West with brisk winds.
A representative of the Exeter based Met Office said:
"Tuesday will be a particularly wet and cold day across the south because we are still holding on to fairly cold winds."
Adding: "There are some signs that the following week the weather will become more settled so we could be seeing a little bit more sunshine and temperatures closer to what we might expect in April.
"I think the chance of getting any sleet or snow on lower ground is pretty low [the following week]. It looks like next week is the last time we will see snow on lower ground."
Earlier this month the Met Office announced that March was the joint second coldest since records began.
The mean temperature was just 2.2C (36F) - more than 3C colder than the long-term monthly average.
