Exeter City's chances of making into the play-off places in four weeks' time were dealt another blow on Saturday as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at home to Dagenham & Redbridge.
The result leaves City still in the play-off positions, but Bradford City have now closed the gap to two points and the Bantams have a game in hand on the Grecians.
Despite suffering back-to-back defeats over the Easter weekend, City went into the match as favourites due to Dagenham's own poor run of form. However, City were dealt a blow in the opening minute when Kevin Amankwaah had to be substituted through injury.
Steve Tully, his normal replacement was unavailable having broken his toe, so Aaron Dawson was forced to fill in at right back.
Going through an injury crisis, which seen Matt Oakley, Alan Gow and Liam Sercombe all ruled out until the end of the season, it was the last thing manager Paul Tisdale needed - especially as leading scorer Jamie Cureton was also sidelined with hamstring trouble.
The afternoon got worse for City four minutes later though as a Matthew Saunders' corner was headed in at the near post by Scott Doe.
It gave Dagenham, who have only won one of their last ten, something to hold onto. And they did that pretty comfortably in the first half as the home side failed to muster a shot on target.
Guillem Bauza was brought on five minutes before the half-time whistle as Tisdale switched from a 4-5-1 formation to playing two up front, but still City created little in the second half.
The home side's best chance came with 15 minutes to go when Craig Woodman's cross from the right was headed goalwards by Danny Coles, but Jordan Seabright produced a stunning save to claw the ball from behind him just as it appeared as though it was going over the line.
The only other real chance created saw Scot Bennett's tame header comfortably saved by Seabright.
Elsewhere in League Two Fleetwood missed the chance to go level on points with Exeter by losing 3-0 at home to Rochdale.
Bradford City cut the gap by beating Northampton 1-0 at home, while Gillingham secured promotion with a 1-0 win at home to Torquay.
