A new Latin American restaurant is on its way to Exeter joining a long list of companies heading to the city including Ikea, Frankie & Bennys, Chiquiito and a drive-through Starbucks. Restaurant chain Las Iguanas have started advertising positions for their new Exeter based restaurant. The job advert states they are looking for an "exceptional host with strong motivational and influential people skills" to fill the roll in their new Exeter store. Las Iguanas is a Latin American themed restaurant chain that started in Bristol in 1991 and was recognised as one of the 100 Best Companies to work for in 2013. As reported last week Frankie & Benny's is also coming to Exeter and looking for senior staff. As the map above reveals Frankie and Benny's will feature in a new business site in Alphington, Exeter. The derelict site at the entrance to the Marsh Barton trading estate is to be transformed into four restaurants and a collection of small businesses. It is intended that national chains Frankie & Bennys, Chiquito, Starbucks and KFC will occupy the restaurant sites on the corner of Alphington Road and Marsh Barton Road. Starbucks will be a drive-through as will KFC. The development is on the northern perimeter of the trading estate and is opposite the Stone Lane Retail Park with occupiers Curry's, Go Out Doors, Argos, Brantano, Carpet Right, MacDonalds, Staples, Costa Coffee, Pets at Home and Car Phone Warehouse. Exeter's planning committee approved the plans for the site, which has been empty for around 15 years. Documents show there will be six business units, five of which will be around 4,000 square feet with one that is 2,950 square feet, two restaurants and two drive-through restaurants. The application also makes provision for 114 car parking spaces and states that it has the potential to create up to 320 full-time equivalent jobs. The hours of opening will be 9am to 11pm from Monday to Saturday and until 10.30pm on Sundays. A drive-in car wash and car storage business has been operating from part of the site where there is also a heavily vandalised office building. Access to the site will be from Ashton Road. Home accessories mega store The White Company are also currently linked to the city after advertising a management job for a new shop in the South West, although this has not been confirmed.
