A new assistant chief constable is to be appointed by the chief of Devon and Cornwall Police.
The appointment is the first reshuffle of high ranks in the force by substantive chief constable Shaun Sawyer who is also appointing a new Plymouth commander.
Current Plymouth commander Ch Supt Andy Bickley is moving to the headquarters in Exeter to become assistant chief constable and Supt Chris Singer is to take command of Plymouth's officers.
Andy Bickley brings a knowledge of almost 30 years of police work in Devon and Cornwall to the force's command team. He will be responsible for crime and criminal justice policy.
Shaun Sawyer was confirmed as the new Chief Constable of Devon and Cornwall Police in January.
Mr Sawyer, who had been acting in the role since March 2012, was selected by Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg as his preferred candidate.
