Exmouth can really turn the heat up under National Three South West leaders London Irish Wild Geese when the top two meet at the Imperial Ground tomorrow.
There are five points in it, with Irish (102pts) ahead of Exmouth (97) with three games to play.
"Irish have the best points-for record in our division and there is no doubt our defence will be tested," said Exmouth coach Jon Hill. "As we have the best defensive record in the division, that will be an interesting match-up."
Exmouth drew 15-all at Sunbury with Irish earlier in the season. Only Weston have beaten the leaders in the current campaign. Hill said beating Irish is just one piece of the jigsaw what will earn his side promotion outright, or place in the play-offs.
"If we want to finish top we have to win all three of our remaining games, not just Irish but Maidenhead and Malvern as well. Every game is massive, not just the next one."
Brixham are at home to Malvern in National Three South West.
Barnstaple's director of rugby Kevin Squire has warned Newton Abbot not to take his side lightly in tomorrow's derby at Pottington Road. Barum have not had a great run since Christmas and are six wins, 25 points and three places below Newton in the latest table.
Long-serving Squire's season is never complete without a win over Newton Abbot – the team he wants to beat more than any other in the division. Squire accepts Barum are underdogs, but has reminded Newton that underdogs can have a nasty nip.
"Much as it pains me to say it, on this occasion Newton Abbot are the favourites and deservedly so," said Squire.
"If they turn up thinking it will be a simple task of sticking one on us and don't take us seriously, they could easily come unstuck.
"If they come with the business heads on it will be a struggle for us, but on a hard pitch which suits us with our supporters behind us I wouldn't write us of."
Newton have not lost to a Devon side this season, having done the double over Exmouth and beaten Brixham and Barnstaple first time around.
"We will be going all out for five out of five," said Newton's director of rugby Roy Henderson. "It is a shame this game and Brixham next week are this late in the season with nothing left riding on them, but every Devon derby is competitive and I am sure this will be the same."
Taunton Titans, now out of the National Three bottom three after their win at Barking, are at home to Canterbury.
