NEW Tiverton Town manager Jamie Ward has wasted no time in strengthening his squad, signing Jon Vance and Kyle Bassett in the space of two days.
Midfielder Vance, 31, signed from Bridgwater Town on Thursday, with 21-year-old forward Bassett following 24 hours later from Ward's previous club Wellington.
Vance's arrival should bolster an increasingly threadbareTivvymidfield of late, with David Steele and Russell Jee both having departed in the wake of Mark Saunders' resignation as boss.
The experienced midfielder has an eye for goal, topping Bridgwater Town's goal charts with an impressive 12 strikes from the middle of the park, and should be included in the squad that takes on Merthyr Town at Ladysmead on Saturday.
Vance actually scored the winning goal against the Yellows with a superb free-kick in a 1-0 victory for Taunton Town back in August 2011.
Former Exeter City trainee Bassett joins from Wellington, having also played for the likes of Barnstaple Town and Exmouth Town.
The youngster also has a goal-scoring past against Tivvy, having netted with a wonderstrike against Martyn Rogers' side in a Devon St Luke's Bowl semi-final match at Ladysmead in April 2010 which City went on to win on penalties.
