Police search continues for driver of 'taxi' who left man with serious head injuries at Westpoint darts event

Police are re-issuing an appeal for information from anyone who may have witnessed a serious collision at Westpoint in Exeter to come forward. The incident happened around 10.25pm on February 28 when a man got into what is thought to be a taxi, described as a black medium-sized people carrier with a sliding side door, possibly a Mercedes Vito. The driver refused to take him and the vehicle made off at speed with the victim still inside and the side door open. The man fell out of the vehicle and sustained serious head injuries. Police are still trying to trace the vehicle which was involved in the incident. The injured man, a 49-year-old from from Draycott, near Cheddar, Somerset was one of a group of friends who had been at the National Darts Championships at the venue prior to the incident. Despite sustaining serious injuries at the time he has since made dramatic improvements. Anyone with any information is asked to please call police on 101 ref log number 839 of 280213.
